May 15th: Off to the Baltic

It is 0900 Sunday morning and I am back in the lounge at Vienna Airport waiting for a flight to Helsinki. I may be unemployed at the moment but I am still travelling.
It is off to Helsinki to join up with two very old and dear friends as they tour the Baltic Rim. Their blog is at:

So you may see me there after this evening......................
Life continues as ever with the past few days being very hectic as I finished the Gabon mission paperwork and some final  details at the  office. Then Thursday saw the packers arrive to collect and clear the apartment of my bits and pieces (94 boxes in the end collected over 7 years nearly!) Clare came over from UK to help for the last few days in the flat  which was great;- we finally got to go on a fiaker ride after 7 years as part of the "last things to do list" in Vienna - it also included coffee and marillen strudel at Aida in Stefansplatz and a last  dinner at the Gulaschmuseum.
Sadly C had to go back to work yesterday so yet again  I was at the airport  this time to see her off..
After a day to look at Helsinki tomorrow  we will be driving up to the North cape to take their FWD to the limit of mainland Europe before I  fly off to a final symposium in Germany on 22 May.
The weather today has been pretty windy and wet so far - but I am hoping the sun will shine in Finland - that will be country #91 I think.
